"Wandering in some woods in the Mendip hills, I came across a cascade tumbling down a steep bank. It comprised a series of tiny waterfalls and pools, and its small scale immediately suggested a fairy image. I photographed the site and began work on the picture. After a week, I returned for a second look, but, to my amazement, the stream had dried up (despite heavy rainfall). It left me wondering if the water only flows on days when the fairies decide that it should..."
