Rui Paes
Rui Paes was born in Mozambique in 1957 and, after studying at the Escola de Belas Artes in Oporto, Portugal, he moved to London to complete his MA in painting at the Royal College of Art. He works mainly on murals and designs for the theatre; until recently he was best known for his frescoes in the Singerie of the historic house Munkebakken in Lysaker, just outside Oslo. Working on Madonna’s fifth and final book has opened more opportunities for illustrative work, which he is pursuing.
