Patricia Papps

Patricia Papps was born in Bournemouth and studied art at Bournemouth College of Art & Design.

As a professional illustrator, her work has included 15 children’s books and magazine illustrations which included a regular spread in the BBC 'Playdays' children's magazine. She has also produced art for two series of collector plate designs for Bradford Exchange. She has been exhibited with the Royal Society of Miniaturists and at the Llewellyn Alexander Fine Art Gallery in London from whom I have won awards, one being ‘best miniaturist painting in the exhibition’.

Mythology and folklore is the inspiration behind much of her work and this is reflected in paintings of Celtic myths and fairies. The exquisite works of Medieval manuscript artists have also been of great inspiration.

Patricia’s watercolours are created using very fine miniaturists brushes, which enables her to create detail and build colour slowly. The work is on rigid art board with the application of fine base coloured artists pencils first to give texture and depth to the watercolour.
