Original illustration by Patricia Papps - 'Fionuala - Daughter of King Lir' commissioned by Compton and Woodhouse for a series of limited edition plates. Unfortunately the design was never used.
The painting shows Fionuala, daughter of King Lir, who with her three brothers was turned into a swan by their evil step-mother. This shows the moment when they are turned into swans and her concern and care for her brothers.
